Operations Control Executive

Are you detail-oriented, enjoy working with numbers, and thrive in an international environment? Do you have a passion for finance and controlling, and want to contribute to the dynamic world of shipping? If so, we would love to hear from you!

This role can be based either in Copenhagen or Santiago.

What you will be doing as Operations Control Executive
As our new colleague in the Operations Control team, you will become part of a professional environment, where the focus is on delivering results of high quality and accuracy whilst remembering the check-in and occasional joke with your colleagues. You will join a team of 10 colleagues located in our Copenhagen and Santiago offices, acting as the link between our Finance team and global Operations teams around the world, mitigating risks for the company.

As part of Ultrabulk’s ongoing digitalisation journey, you will also be part of exploring and adopting new tools, data insights and ways of working that make controlling smarter and more efficient.

As our new Operations Control Executive, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure timely payment of hire for our large fleet of leased vessels
  • Prepare and manage commission invoices and other commercial payments, such as broker and bunker commissions
  • Ensuring customer payments are made on time, resolving disputes promptly and professionally
  • Correspond with Operators about instructions for hire payments and prepare remittances
  • Controlling operational data and systems to ensure accuracy
  • Conducting ad hoc data analyses to support operational performance reviews
  • Providing internal support to operators and controllers
  • Contribute to our digitalisation initiatives, for example by supporting new systems, automation and data-driven improvements

The ideal candidate is someone who...

  • Has a relevant education in Finance & Accounting, Shipping and Trade, or has been a Shipping Trainee. You could also have a few years of experience and knowledge of the shipping industry
  • Thrives in a structured environment, enjoys tackling challenges, and excels at managing multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Is detail-oriented and driven to improve processes and workflows
  • Quickly adapts to and learns new systems and technologies
  • Works independently with confidence while naturally fostering collaboration
  • Is proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel (SAP experience is a plus)
  • Is fluent in English, both written and spoken, as this is our corporate language
  • Hold a valid residence and work permit for the chosen work location

Not meeting every single requirement? At Ultrabulk, we believe the right candidate also contributes positively to our culture, one built on strong teamwork and a welcoming, social atmosphere. If you're excited about this role but your experience does not match every single bullet, we would still like to hear from you.

What you might love about us
