Operations Executive in Tokyo

Ultrabulk in Tokyo is looking for an ambitious Operations Executive.

What you will be doing
As Operations Executive in our dry bulk operations, you hold an essential role in ensuring high quality and flawless operation of our vessels and meeting the demands of our customers. You will be in daily contact with several stakeholders such as captains, port agents, owners, charterers, and finally our Ultra colleagues in our offices all around the world. You will find yourself in a varied job with an informal tone, and where we encourage initiative and innovation. You will work out of our office in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan and have close cooperation with our Chartering Executive in Japan.

The work tasks will include:

  • Execute daily operations with due consideration to customer focus, voyage optimization and stakeholder management
  • Close follow-up on voyage related expenses 
  • Visits to vessels, ports and customers 
  • Participate in various operational projects
  • Provide operational insight to the chartering department to optimize future fixtures 
  • Resolve operational challenges together with our in-house legal team and P&I club
  • Play an important part in the support of our chartering team to ensure a cost-effective voyage execution

To succeed in the job
You have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience from the shipping industry, preferably from a dry bulk operation. 
 
You demonstrate good communication skills and possess a problem-solving mindset. You are a true team player and at the same time able to work independently by taking ownership of your tasks; your follow-up and ability to deliver is second to none. You take pride in delivering excellent service to our customers and skills such as persistence, overview and can-do attitude will support our ambition of being A Partner You Can Trust.


Furthermore, we expect that you are/have:

  • A sense of urgency and understand the importance of deadlines without compromising quality
  • Responsible and that you are a self-starter who proactively contributes with ideas and solutions
  • Excellent IT skills that allow you to quickly acquire new skills in these fields
  • Knowledge of Softmar is an advantage
  • Appreciation of working in a multicultural environment; with English as our corporate language, fluency in English is a prerequisite
